Impeccable (p. 60)

Definition:
Perfect; without any mistakes or flaws.

In context:
If something is impeccable, it is done extremely well and looks or sounds just right.

Masticated (p. 62)

Definition:
Chewed food thoroughly before swallowing.

In context:

The word describes food that has been chewed in the mouth.

Satchel (pp. 63–64)

Definition:
A small bag, often with a strap, used to carry books, papers, or personal items.

In context:
A satchel is similar to a shoulder bag or small school bag.

Rigor (p. 65)

Definition:
Harshness, strictness, or severe conditions.

In context:
Rigor can describe something hard to endure, such as cold weather or strict rules.

Asbestos (p. 66)

Definition:
A harmful material once used in buildings for insulation and fireproofing.

In context:
Asbestos is dangerous if disturbed because breathing in its dust can cause serious health problems.

Group work.  Split the class into groups of max 2-3. Have groups complete the following questions. All names on 1 piece of paper to hand in with answers. Use the writing techniques we have learned Q 3: Topic sentences, transition words, examples, & concluding statements.

Group Work Questions: Paragraph Responses. PICK ONE!

1. Materialism - What is it? & How does materialism (excess stuff) affect our lives? future careers? life goals?

2. Minimalism - What is it? What are the benefits OR what are the shortfalls? (negatives?)

Class Discussion re: Answers to above questions once all groups have completed their work. 20 min group work time allocation.
