Feb 9 & 10th Diagnostic Viewing Assessment: Re: Feb 4 2026 Viewing - Why is Denmark & Finland Happier Than The US? & Intro to Lit Assessment - & Connection Paragraph Practice.

Feb 10th 

Silent Read 20 min - students have their personal novel read books at the front of the classroom. EA takes some students out of the space she’ll take the same students that went out yesterday. Reminder to students no breaks, leaving the space during quiet time. Those students have forgotten a book. I have a couple behind my desk on the top of the bookshelf.

Next Task: Students Finish & do their good copies to hand in their final Pair Work - Paragraphs Diagnostic Viewing Assessment's from yesterday. 

Viewing - students completed video viewing last week - Denmark/Finland Happiness piece. 

*Note-  some students did finish their first draft copies yesterday Feb 9. These are at the front of the room on the large table. There’s one that just needs to be edited by a teacher with the red pen at the front. Students who finished and have their edited drafts can do their good copy while we’re waiting for a few other groups to finish up.

New Task - Only - After all groups have finished their diagnostic paragraphs good copies.  

2nd Paragraph: Connecting Paragraphs

- allows viewers to better understand the piece based on their memories, experiences, and knowledge. Sometimes when we read or view things we feel an emotional response to certain characters/people/things/events because we have experienced something similar. 

New TASK: Today - Feb 9 th - In this case a video-to-self or video-to-video connection.

With your partner - decide - will you make a video-to-self or a video-to-video connection.

Write a new draft paragraph - new paper - with your partner. Be sure to mention your personal experience and the part of the video that you connected with. 

Intro, examples, conclusion. min 5 sentences. 

Be ready to present - Double block.
